Step back in time and celebrate a remarkable milestone as DownsSteam proudly presents the Pittsworth 150th Anniversary Steam Special.
Travel behind the magnificent BB18¼ Locomotive No. 1037 "Peter Ford" on a special return steam train journey from Toowoomba to Pittsworth, commemorating 150 years of Pittsworth's rich history and community spirit.
Originally established in the 1870s as part of the Beauaraba district, Pittsworth grew from a small agricultural settlement into one of the Darling Downs' most important rural service centres. For 150 years, the town has been shaped by farming, community, innovation, and country hospitality, becoming a proud cornerstone of the region.
Upon arrival, guests will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the town's sesquicentennial celebrations. Throughout the day, Pittsworth will come alive with historical displays, live entertainment, community exhibits, the official Time Capsule Ceremony, the Grand Street Parade, vintage vehicle displays, market stalls, and family-friendly activities centred around Centenary Park and the historic Town Hall precinct.
This special train journey reconnects Pittsworth with its railway heritage, allowing visitors to arrive in style aboard a steam-hauled passenger train while celebrating 150 years of community history.
Seats are limited for this once-in-a-generation event.
