Mother’s Day Steam Luncheon Express

Departing from Drayton Station, enjoy a relaxing journey behind one of our beautifully restored heritage steam locomotives as we travel through the picturesque countryside of the Darling Downs to the historic township of Cambooya.

At Cambooya, guests will have the opportunity to visit the much-loved Bull & Barley Inn, where a warm country welcome and a delicious meal await—making it the perfect way to spoil Mum and spend quality time together.

Passengers holding Pub Lunch Tickets will disembark at Cambooya for their reserved Mother’s Day lunch at the Bull & Barley Inn, featuring a delightful alternate drop meal. While guests enjoy their meal, the steam train will continue south to Greenmount to turn before returning to Cambooya to collect passengers for the return journey to Drayton.
Two ticket types are available for this special Mother’s Day event.

🌸 Mother’s Day Steam Special – Pub Lunch Ticket

Treat Mum to a memorable experience with a scenic steam train journey from Drayton to Cambooya, followed by a reserved Mother’s Day pub lunch at the Bull & Barley Inn before rejoining the train for the return journey.

Lunch seating is reserved and organised for these ticket holders.

🚂 Mother’s Day Steam Special – Ride the Whole Way Ticket

Perfect for those who wish to simply enjoy the full steam experience.
Travel the entire journey from Drayton to Cambooya and onward to Greenmount before returning, remaining onboard while the train turns. Guests are welcome to bring along a picnic or purchase light refreshments onboard.

Passengers may choose to alight on the return stop at Cambooya; however, no lunch reservation or seating is provided, and food is not included with this ticket.

Tickets for this special event are strictly limited:

40 seats available – Ride the Whole Way Ticket

Seats are expected to sell quickly—early booking is highly recommended.

While the train is stationary, light refreshments and drinks will be available for purchase in our dining car.

Gluten Free and Vegetarian options are available at the Bull & Barley Inn. Please ensure dietary requirements are noted when booking.

Information

Refreshments: Light refreshments and snacks can be purchased at the station shop.

Footwear: Guests are strongly encouraged to wear comfortable footwear, as a walk of up to 200 metres is required between the station and the pub at Cambooya.

Important: When disembarking at Cambooya, please ensure all personal belongings are taken with you, as the train will operate another service between Cambooya and Greenmount during the lunch period.

Seating:
Infants under 2 years who do not occupy a seat travel free. If a seat is required, please book a child fare. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Heritage Carriages:

Due to the heritage nature of our coaches, some seats may not have windows (as indicated on seat maps). Guests are encouraged to select seats when booking. While we aim to honour all requests, seating may be adjusted for operational or safety reasons.
